I like the recordings of the 1920s and 1930s (and have since childhood when I discovered the old 78s of my parents and grandparents, and even of my great-grandparents from the 1910s). I have many of these records and I am presenting some of them here.
You are invited to peruse the playlists I have included on my channel. I enjoy searching for various versions of a particular song and assembling them in one playlist.
I was born in California and reside in my hometown.

Beautiful song ❤. Song reminds me of my beautiful wife Judy ❤❤. I miss her so much 😂. I love you so much Yobo 😂❤. I love you ❤️😘
What is the name of the initial song in your videos?
It is called Serenade for a Wealthy Widow
Tom Waits brought me here
My dad named me after this song. I never knew there were so many versions. Dad used to play the lead singer from the Platters, was the one he played. I like my name.
💖💖💖😚

Just saw the movie The Husbands from 1970 and this was in the last 30 minutes
Thanks for posting.
My grandfather used to sing it to me when I was a kid I’m with the other guy. I thought it was something made up but it was true World War I now I can.
Fascinating stuff. Thanks for posting. Wikipedia says 0h By Jingo was one of the most popular songs of the Tin Pan Alley era.
Eddy Farley is my Great Grandfather! Would love to buy his old records from anyone that has them.
May I ask what that song is that is used in your intro/title slide?
Can i get a flyby over Bakersfield

Anyone notice how the picture is literally blinking and moving its eyes around like the Mona Lisa
Pretty good! But Jolie's is better!
Thanks... Not sure I've heard this one before, and I am a big fan of Carmen Lombardo and his sax section... and I like his vocal solos too. For this song, I am partial to Django/Beryl Davis, and the Miller/Hutton (with Clyde Hurley trumpet solo) versions.
1909!!
I had FAM' who toured late WW2Thanks to those soldiers who experienced the war!
From the Doo little crew
Wonderful
Thank you
Too beautiful for words.just lovely.sad and sentimental.
I just saw Gulliver's Travels today on RUclips Blessings and Hugs 💖💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
This is an "early bird's" song, the sort who naturally feel energetic rising at dawn. As a late riser, I can relate much better tom"Oh How I Hate to Get Up in the Morning"! Its author, Irving Berlin, was a late riser drafted into the service. To get out of early rising and marching drills he wrote music to raise troop morale. My mother, an early bird, used to sing both songs.
I’d bet money you wouldn’t know that song
Just beautiful. Love these bands from the 1920’s.
Loved the artwork, particularly the repetitive hands and steering wheel motif. Shades of 'Grapes of Wrath' and 'California Cotton Fields.'
LeRoy Shield was the musical composer and director for the Hal Roach Studio for several years.
_"If the Camels don't get you, the Fatimas must."_
I own a copy of this one, but it’s on the later Victor “Scroll Label”, oddly enough. It’s quite a beauty!
This is a very well-done video, it makes the period come alive and the sound of the record is as good as you're going to find it.
❤
Having not heard back, after his first rather unpleasant comment, from Fortress Fighter (is this his site?) I would just like to ask: is that beautiful couple of measure introduction before the record (0:01-0:10) actually begins by any chance a clip from "It's a Wonderful Life"? It is lovely enough to listen to without continuing on to Irving the Irritating's wretched rendering of a not very pretty (sorry,...) tune. The verse is just better than the chorus, which is is just better than an aspirin melting in the mouth...
the introduction is from a piece called Serenade for a Wealthy Widow.
@@abendstunde49 Thank. I listened to that serenade a while ago, didn't remember that lovely couple of measures. We had the "Toy Trumpet" as kids, must have played it to death. Our mother probably trashed it, not a music fan by any means...
precious photos!
Beautiful song well done
Many thanks
So elegant and enchanting, both the music and illustrations!
I heard about this song from Dune Chapter House 😊.
Our neighbor ( my mother’s dear friend) suggested the name Charmaine for me & my Mother loved it &I like my name. I like the Frank Sinatra version best it also has all the words 😉
one of two wonderful renderings - the other many years later by Dean Martin
Who's still pumping this in 2023?
